Franciscus 2011

In Honorem Ferenc Heimann

This wine is an homage to my father, Ferenc Heimann, together with whom we started to rebuild the family estate. It is a blend of Cabernet Franc from Porkoláb-völgy and our beguiling Sagrantino from the Batti-kereszt vineyard. The result is a truly remarkable wine with a unique flavour profile, marked tannins, lots of fruit and great aging potential.

60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Sagrantino. Yield was 1 bunch per bud in both cases which translates to 1,2-1,4 kg per vine. Fermented in open casks. Following the malolactic fermentation the wines were placed in barrels. The Cabernet Franc was aged in 500 l French and Hungarian barrels, the Sagrantino in 1000-liter-barrels. Estate bottled after 2 years, followed by bottle-aging of another 1,5 years.
